In April en mei heeft de uitwisseling met de diergeneeskunde faculteit in Tartu, Estland plaatsgevonden. Deze uitwisseling wordt jaarlijks georganiseerd door de IVSA commissie van DSK. Graag vertellen wij jullie hoe deze 2 geweldige weken zijn verlopen.
In total, 10 Dutch and 10 Estonian students participated. Many new things were learned, both in veterinary medicine and culturally, whereby veterinary contacts were also made for the future! In the Netherlands, we were able to proudly show our faculty and the clinics, where we were given a lesson in milking cows and also gained new insights at a pathology workshop. Furthermore, we were able to teach them a lot of Dutch culture, of course at the cultural evening itself, but also with a boat trip through the canals of Utrecht and guided tours through Amsterdam and Den Bosch! And a real hockey training could not be missed, since that is a sport that is not often seen abroad! As veterinary students, this time it could not only be limited to the well-known animal species, but we also learned a lot about camels at the camel dairy. In short, we already had a very successful week in the Netherlands!
But Estonia was at least as educational and fun! We were also able to admire their faculty and clinics there! We also received a very informative workshop on handling rabbits, guinea pigs and ferrets; something we don't get much instruction in ourselves. In the capital we walked through the old part and the zoo there could not be missed. To get to know their culture better, we played typical Estonian games, did a quiz about Estonia, had a traditional dinner and visited the national museum! On the last evening we did something they often do, namely go to the sauna on the water! This way you can jump into the cold water after the heat and then get nice and warm again inside. All in all, everyone had a good time and we were able to broaden our (veterinary) knowledge, which we as an organization are very happy about!
These were 2 very enjoyable weeks that we were able to experience thanks to the contribution of the Utrecht University Fund. We are very grateful for this!
